Beyond the Storm is one of those 'out of the ashes' books that reminds us people can not only survive great tragedies, they thrive by helping others through tough times. As a Missourian, this book brought back memories of the Joplin, MO, tornado, and now seems especially timely with the vicious attack of hurricane Sandy.
Zane makes the devastation seem as real as possible (it can't possibly be truly real unless you live it), and she shows the daily struggles to rebuild both physical and spiritual life when things just don't make sense.
I definitely recommend this one!
