Bible In A Year

Ok, I've found a plan for reading the Bible through in a year and I've decided to take on the challenge! I know I'll have some days when I miss my assignment, so I actually started reading ahead last year (is it cheating to read the Bible????). I also know that I'll have some trouble when I get to Leviticus...I've already decided that I'll switch to "The Message" version and hopefully that will help.

Reading the bible with a plan to read it in a year is the best way to do it. I have done it several times now. But must admit that Leviticus is the hardest book to get through. Something that has helped me is to look at the book as a mystery to solve. Every single thing is detailed to death! That tells me that God is not just into all the details but that every single one of them means something. He is telling us something with everything he desribes. The mystery is to keep trying to figure them all out! I have figured a few things out (I think). But keep searching and studying everytime I read Leviticus. That seems to help get thru it with more anticipation than dread. Reading back over you Blog I was struck by you talking about all the ads for Christmas gifts on TV. I don't watch much TV either but was struck the same way by those ads. But after I thought about it a while it became clear that the world is constantly trying to give the very best, the most expensive and the most unique gifts every year. Its a constant competition each year. A competition it can never win. Because they don't even know why they are competing. God gave us the "THE" Gift! Nothing can ever compare to him giving us his Son the Lord Jesus. The world could never buy a gift like that, never give a gift like that or never earn a gift like that. So many are missing the whole idea of Christmas and gift giving. And until they do understand, the ultimate "GIFT" can never be theirs to give or to receive. Kinda sad when you think of it. It should make us want to pray harder, sing louder and share non stop the free gift of salvation. There are a lot of lost people out there that need to get the gift year round and not just at Christmas.
